In last week’s post we listed a checklist for Seasonal Tree Protection. This week we’re going to go into a little more detail about the first tree care task on the list, that is, pruning & trimming!
A professional arborist can determine what type of care is required to help maintain or improve your trees’ health, safety, and appearance. Pruning and trimming can help:
- Keep branches from rubbing up against one another
- Thin or remove unnecessary branches
- Remove insect-infected or diseased limbs
- Eliminate the dead or weak limbs that could be hazardous
- Get rid of weather damaged limbs
- Remove limbs that may obstruct streets or sidewalks
- Remove limbs that may touch wires, buildings, gutters, roofs, and more
- Create a stronger structure that lessens wind resistance and damage
- Improve the shape or silhouette of the tree
- Train young trees to grow into proper positions
